Nautilus, circa 1800

This is a model of a very early submarine originally designed and built by Robert Fulton in 1800. It was propelled by hand driven cranks and when on the surface a sail could be hoisted to rest the weary crew.

The model is electrically powered, and dives dynamically by means of forward motion and the hydroplanes.  When stopped the model has just enough positive buoyancy to surface.

Hythe Ferry.

This is a model of a small Victorian paddle steamer, which operated as the ferry between Southampton and Hythe.

The model is a static model with no radio control or means of propulsion.

Some of our members prefer to build static models for the enjoyment of displaying them at the exhibitions which we regularly attend during the year.
